Gallery and Museum

One Friday, Mama, Juliette, and I went to the most BORING art gallery and most FUN fun museum. So first we went to an art gallery in Asheville, and it wasn’t BAD but it wasn’t GOOD. There was about 10% naked stuff, 0.001% cool stuff, and 89.999% boring stuff. (Also, the closest estimate rounding to a hundred is 100% boring). The prices was what really got my attention. They sold a vase for $8,000, and a 1 in x 1in painting only filled with orange for $2,000. Oh, and that HUGE canvas with one big DOT in the middle for $10,000. But the thing with the museum, was that they had a PLAY PLACE. It was so awesome, there was no guard, no other kid, just ME (and my sister). But I have to end this and I need to say what my favorite stuff was. So, my favorite thing in the gallery was a few blocks on top of each other, and in the museum, it was a painting of a flying sandwich.

BYE-BYE!!!!

  1. Hi Alex
I’m glad you enjoyed the museum even if some of it was boring to you. You know I never liked those kind of paintings either until I had a very talented lady artist as a teacher. She could draw really great realistic pictures of people and lots of other things. So whe she showed me her paintings I was shocked- it was just a board with layers and layers of paint! But she explained the “process “ of the painting was what she liked. Mixing the colors and using her brain, hands and body to apply it to canvas. She also knew a lot about the chemistry of paint ( she says it’s just “mud”- made from the earth. After that I had new respect for “abstract” paintings ( even tho I wouldn’t be able to afford $10000 for one).
Anyway I know you will be a great artist and engineer yourself someday – maybe even an astronaut! I saw you reading Stephen Hawking books!
Have a great Thanksgiving- love you guys
    Great Aunt Bonnie
